Rajasthan Forts and Palaces

India has never been an unknown place to the world. There are several reasons behind it. Needless to say that Indian history, culture, hospitality etc have been bones to this fact and when we talk about these facts, Rajasthan tops the charts. Rajasthan is amongst the biggest states of India. The state has got a lot of historical monuments to mesmerize anyone. Its heritage forts and palaces has such a charm that nobody can stay away from it. The people are friendly and their hospitality is world renowned.

Since it is amongst the biggest states of India, it also has the most no of the oldest cities of India. Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Bikaner, Alwar are amongst those. Out of these cities, Jaipur has become the prime destination for the tourists from Delhi and is now world famous for its heritage. Jaipur, also known as The Pink city of India, was founded by Sawai Raja Jai Singh. The Royal Observatory Jantar Mantar, The city palace, Hawa Mahal and Old fort are on the top of the lists of the visitors because of their interesting history and splendid architectural designs. Though these places have been preserved and maintained by Archeological Survey of India, the royal family is allowed to use the City Palace. A part of the palace has been converted into museum which displays an amazing collection of the preserved royal dresses and armory.

Another city named Udaipur also flaunts its palaces to the world like city palace which has a Hathi Pol as well. There is another prehistoric city named Jaisalmer which has given fascinating forts and palaces like Jaisalmer fort, Patwaon ki haveli and Salim ki haveli as heritage to India. 12th century Jaisalmer fort is also known as Sonar Fort and is built on more than 104000 sq. meter area.

Rose from a plain ground to a height of 180 meters, the fascinating fort of Chittorgarh stands tall. One has to cross several gates to reach the heart of it. The fort has a list of palaces in it. It also flaunts its two towers named as Kirti stambh and Vijay stambh which has a height of more than 100 ft. It is needless to say that Archeological survey of India has preserved the beauty to their praise.

Another fort which has always been a part of history is the fort of Bikaner which is also known as the Junagarh fort as well. This is the only fort of Rajasthan which has never been conquered by anyone. The fort even has a Chandra Mahal which is decorated with art work and mirrors. It also has a museum as well which displays ancient jewellery, gems, Royal armory etc. Kanar Mahal is another place to visit inside the fort.

Despite being a state with these tremendous historic monuments, Rajasthan is still below the poverty and literacy line and this is the reason for its people being honest and humble. This is one thing which makes a Rajasthan Heritage Tours memorable for the visitors.
